We worked really hard this week to only spend what was absolutely necessary… which you will see we didn’t do very well at. Which sucks because we felt like we were really sacrificing!
You will see, dear Reader, that we still ate out twice (one justified though!) but what you don’t see is that our big Home Plus shop included purchasing a small blender… We have been umming and aaahing about getting a blender for ages and for some reason suddenly decided to do it this weekend… The rationale was that we should get something small and cheap to see how often we will use it. That way if we do use it a lot we can invest in a bigger, good quality blender with peace of mind and if we don’t use it a lot well then at least we didn’t spend a lot of money on it. We had the first smoothie breakfast today and it was delicious (and I think quite cheap cause the ingredients we bought are going to last us quite a while!) 🙂 Although why we decided that THIS weekend (the weekend we were really trying not to spend money) was the weekend to buy a blender I have no idea…
To new readers of The Brat Experiment: Husband and I track every single won that we spend on a fantastic app called Money Lover. The app is synched to both of our phones and means that it’s very easy to see where all of our money goes (which is not always pleasant!). I then report on our weekly spending here and write up a summary of our spending for each month. You can check out other weekly spends and the monthly summaries in The Numbers section.
Week’s total: 306 880 won
Necessary: 279 280 won (91%)
Indulgence: 27 600 won (9%)
Ok, for a weekly total that’s not too bad. But only if we ignore the fact, dear Reader, that we were trying to live off as LITTLE as possible. The 300 000 won mark is supposed to be our average per week, not our minimum 😦 However, the ratio is great. And the grocery shop should last us for a while i.e. hopefully our only groceries this week will be milk. Our friends are coming to visit us this weekend so we’re anticipating a bit of a spending spree then but hopefully that will balance out with our (hopefully!) lack of spending during the week.
